This past weekend I finished 2 books. Which is how many books I’d love to read a week. I’m sure 2 books in one weekend was a fluke. I just discovered the Bout of Books Read-a-thon from Jayla of Lady Blue Jay. It looks like a great way to meet some new bloggers and cross a couple of books off my list.
Bout of Books starts tomorrow 8/13 and runs until Sunday, 8/19. For this week, here’s what I hope to accomplish:
Goals:
- Comment on at least 5 participating blogs a day
- Read and/or finish at least 2 books. I have a couple of books that I’m less than 80 pages in. They’ve been languishing on my desk for a while. Time to finish them! I’ll probably sneak in reading time throughout the day as I’m wrangling my kids
- Connect with those participating via the #boutofbooks hashtag on Twitter
- Seating Arrangements by Maggie Shipstead
- The Second Empress: A Novel of Napoleon’s Court by Michelle Moran
- Clearly Invisible: Rachial Passing and the Color of Cultural Identity by Marcia Alesan Dawkins
- An Echo Through the Snow by Andrea Thalasinos

I am glad that you are joining Bout of Books again! I can’t wait to chat with you and other bloggers over the next week! Good luck!
I’m so glad I discovered it through your blog!
Great list of books! I think I will (hopefully) do about the same number of books.
Bout of Books sounds fun and ambitious! I will keep my eyes peeled for the next round… I am much too disorganized to get it together for tomorrow. Good luck!!
I only decided yesterday to join. It’s not too late!
So glad you found us! Good luck with your goals and have fun!
Oh the Michelle Moran book sounds good, I have a couple of Egyptian themed ones of hers to read, but had not seen the Napoleon one! Have a wonderful reading week, and I’m sure I’ll see you around on Twitter!
I have Moran’s Nefertiti on my stack as well. I <3 Egyptian themed historical fiction!
