I Met Heidi Durrow! #BlogHer15

Thien-Kim and Heidi Durrow

I had a fan girl moment during BlogHer 2015 in NYC a few weeks ago.

I met Heidi Durrow!

I saw her name in the speaker roster for BlogHer (disclosure: I was a speaker at BlogHer too) so I booked it to her session. Not because I was interested in learning how to write and publish a book, but because I wanted to meet her. And hope that she didn’t think I was a cyber stalker.

Not only was Heidi super sweet, she knew who I was! Meeting her in person was one of the highlights of my BlogHer conferences.

I’ve been following Heidi ever since I read her book The Girl Who Fell From the SkyThe novel is gut wrenching and beautifully written. (You can read my review here.)

The Girl Who Fell From the Sky by Heidi Durrow

Heidi is also the founder of Mixed Remixed Festival, which celebrates the story of mixed racial and cultural experiences. As the mother of biracial children, I’m trying my best to raise them to appreciate all of their cultures. I’m so glad that Heidi is on the forefront of this! I’m hoping to be able to attend the conference next year.

If you haven’t read The Girl Who Fell From the Skyget your hands on a copy. ASAP. You won’t regret it.
