Bout of Books Update: Day 1

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

My first day participating in Bout of Books went pretty well. Except for the fact that I cannot get invested in my book. I’m halfway through Seating Arrangements by Maggie Shipstead and have not found one character that I like. Usually I would just abandon the book, but I feel compelled to finish it. It’s just starting to get interesting. Sort of. I’ll share my review once I’m finished with it.

I didn’t put it on my list, but I also read the entire India: The Moonstone Fairy to my daughter. So that counts right?

As for my other goals, I right on target. I didn’t plan on it, but I participated in the Bout of Books Twitter chat. It was a great way to meet some of those participating in the read-a-thon. It also helped me find blogs to comment on. I didn’t keep track but I think I commented on more than 5 blogs, which is my daily goal.

So Hi! to my new friends and fellow Bout of Books participants!

Please join me tomorrow night for our first From Left to Write Twitter chat. You can even win prizes, just RSVP! We’re talking about the appeal of tall, dark, dominant male characters in our books (like 50 Shades of Grey).

Monday Update

Books read: 1 1/2 (if you count the kids’ chapter book)
Pages read: 217 (includes fairy book)
Blogs I left comments on: at least 6

  1. Congrats on completing your goal of 5 comments! The Twitter chat really was fun! :) I felt the same way about one of my recent reads but I was glad I didn’t abandon the book because it turned out to be pretty good.
Good luck and here’s to another successful day!

  2. All books count! That’s the beauty of Bout-of-Books 😉 Enjoy the rest of the week!

  3. Congrats an a successful day, wish you luck for this week!

  4. Don’t you just love Twitterchats? Well, I know that I do :) And books like that – when you can’t realy get into it – suck, but if you think there’s still a chance it’s going to get interesting – keep it up!
Good luck with the rest of your goals!

  5. I love that you are keeping up with comments you leave on other blogs. I was thinking about doing that today in my notes. Since today is my comment day. Great job on day one!

  6. Reading that book to your daughter TOTALLY counts!!! There is nothing better than reading to a child and helping to instill in him/her a love of books! So count it!

  7. It bugs me when I can’t get connected with any characters. Emotional connection is one of the most important things to me when I’m reading a book! You had a great first day though :)
