Are You A Promiscuous Reader?

The great thing about books is that you’ll never run out of books to read.

The bad thing about books is that you’ll never run out of books to read.

How do you manage your huge TBR (to be read) pile? When it comes to wooing your books, so you stick to one book at a time? Or a James Bond-type reader, with a partially read book in every room?

Personally, I’m currently dating several books. I have a book in my purse, several by my bed, one in the bathroom, another on my coffee table and several on my smartphone. Clearly I have a problem with commitment.

I admire those who read only one book at a time. They plow through it to the very end. If a book really draws me in, I’ll commit to it, but only for one night. That one night stand is fast and furious-I usually ignore my family and finish the book in one sitting.

I like reading several different books at a time. When one is at a lull or the theme is just too deep for my sleep deprived self, I switch to another, more uplifting novel. Sometimes I need some popcorn reading and grab a cozy mystery. Maybe it’s because I’m a Libra and I need options.

What about you? Are you a monogamous reader or are you afraid of commitment?

  1. Before other mediums to read a book opened up, I was monogamous. And if I’m in the middle of a book I love, a popcorn one or one offering something on a deeper level, then I’m still monogamous. But, right now, I have a paperback in my purse, a new ebook on my smartphone, another ebook on my laptop, and a hard bound book that I’ve read before next to my bed to read again in bits before my eyes finally drop shut. :>

I usually have more than one book going at a time. One by my bed, one in the bathroom and one on my phone. Sometimes though, I have to admit I get the characters screwed up. Makes for interesting reading though! :-)

Unfortunately, I am a momgamous reader. Even when I have a book I am not that in to,,, I just keep reading thinking “It has to get better, they would not have printed this book if it wasn’t a good book” so I plod on. Sometimes I am rewarded….sometime not.
